I think that the poor 25-year old guy just had the misfortune of being interviewed without realizing that he's basically like every damn serious non-published writer (or little published writer) in the country, but a trifle more whiny.

that's a good point. i probably would have said something vaguely similar to what that dude said and only realize five years later how horribly embarrassing it was.
